Lady in the Lake, Dinosaurs and a Knight in the Woods

Kernut the Blond Posted on November 12, 2017 by KernutNovember 13, 2017
I caught my Knight in (not so) Shining Armor.

I’m pretty sure I was drawn to this place for a reason – the Cheezy Americana energy is strong. Like the Force is strong in the Star Wars’ Universe. Goofy roadside attractions are all over: Lady in the Lake, Dinosaurs in the Woods, Knights in the Woods, World’s Largest Sundial, Caesars Palace fountain.

But, wait! There's more...

Was the Petrified Cat Scared to Death? And a dollhouse on Main Street.

Kernut the Blond Posted on October 26, 2017 by KernutNovember 1, 2017
A petrified cat. Was it scared to death?

If a cat is petrified and dead, was it scared to death?

(Ahahahaa! I crack me up!)

Seriously, folks, there’s a petrified (dead, not scared) cat in Pensacola. No, I’m not talking about Pye, my bi-polar feline companion for whom I occasionally consider finding a new home… she is alive and well and scratching the crap out of my furniture.

I am talking about a dead cat on display, no less, in a museum. Yup, right here in the good ol’ USA can you find such treasures at the local museum as a petrified (dead, not scared) cat on display.

The Tardis Landed at Pensacola International Airport and other UFO Houses

Kernut the Blond Posted on October 17, 2017 by KernutOctober 15, 2017
It's the TARDIS! Apparently, Pensacola Airport allows landing of spaceships.

The Tardis in Pensacola INTERGALACTIC Airport. Pensacola Beach is also home to a couple UFO houses. What is this universe coming to?

Bamahenge, Alabama’s answer to Stonehenge.

Kernut the Blond Posted on July 12, 2017 by KernutNovember 12, 2017
Bamahenge in Elberta, Alabama

Ah, how I love fake Stonehenges. You may recall my visit to Stonehenge II in Ingram, Texas. The town of Elberta, Alabama, not one to be left out of the Stonehenge fun, proudly displays a 1/3-scale fiberglass Stonehenge. Lovingly named “Bamahenge”, it is one of the coolest tourist attractions in … But, wait! There’s more…

Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse in Baltimore

Kernut the Blond Posted on November 13, 2016 by KernutNovember 11, 2016
The Seven-foot Knoll Lighthouse in Baltimore Harbor.

Today’s post is about my favorite site in the tour of Baltimore Harbor: the Seven-foot Knoll Lighthouse. I LOVE lighthouses – and a little, squat, red lighthouse is a bit of double awesomeness. The lighthouse was constructed in 1856, marking the entrance to the Patabsco River and Baltimore Harbor.

Mutter Museum: I saw dead people and it was gross.

Kernut the Blond Posted on September 5, 2016 by KernutSeptember 5, 2016
Giant skeleton at Mutter Museum in Philadelphia, PA.

I am not freaked out or offended by death or open casket funerals. So it should be no surprise it has been my long time desire to see the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia. For those of you that don’t know, the Mutter Museum is dedicated to medical oddities. Bodies, parts, dissected errant growths, freaky medical tools, and a lot of embalmed things in jars.

Pennsylvania, land of miniature villages

Kernut the Blond Posted on July 31, 2016 by KernutJuly 31, 2016
Choo Choo Barn Miniature Village in Strasburg, PA

I’ve always loved all things miniature: miniature decks of cards, little glass bottles, little Christmas villages under the tree. Even stamps are little miniature pieces of artwork to me. Of course this includes miniature villages – they are the best! It’s no wonder I love making gnome doors, and creating miniature gnome homes “in the wild”.

He claims he swapped legs with a jaybird and got cheated out of a butt.

Kernut the Blond Posted on June 4, 2016 by KernutJune 4, 2016
The bears at Cabela's are friendly.

I went to the famous Pennsylvania Cabela’s! In case you’ve never been, I’ll describe the Cabela’s experience: It’s like going to a zoo, but all of the animals are dead.

Wait, what?

Before I go on, I should explain the title since, unlike my usual title/post combinations, this one isn’t self-explanatory or related to the topic of this post. I needed a catchy title so here’s the connection: I went with a friend who claims he doesn’t have a butt. I disagree and think he has a cute butt, but I chose the title in deference to his claim, and because I enjoy teasing hm. However, he rarely reads this blog so he’ll probably never know.

Bucket List Item: The Cadillac Ranch

Kernut the Blond Posted on April 7, 2016 by KernutApril 8, 2016

The. Cadillac. Ranch!

One of my top three Bucket List items is officially checked off! (The Largest Frying Pan and the Largest Ball of Twine being the other two top items.) The Bucket List exists because of these three items.

Do you all realize how looong The Cadillac Ranch has been on my Bucket List?

A Midnight Kiss in Hershey

Kernut the Blond Posted on January 20, 2016 by KernutJanuary 20, 2016
A giant kiss at midnight on NYE.

A midnight kiss in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on New Year’s Eve For someone who loves cheezy roadside attractions, chocolate, and for whom New Year’s is her favorite holiday, it was a near perfect night. Forget about the crystal ball. On New Year’s Eve towns all across Pennsylvania drop (or raise) a … But, wait! There’s more…
