Tanked in Perdido Key and a Covered Bridge in Elberta

Kernut the Blond Posted on February 1, 2020 by KernutJanuary 26, 2020

I’m sure most of you have heard of the TV show “Tanked,” where they build cool, often large, custom fish tanks for folks, usually celebrities, and the occasional business. The Tanked folks built a small one for the Perdido Key Visitors Center.

Happy Friday 5: Amish Jokes, and Pennsylvania Countryside

Kernut the Blond Posted on November 25, 2016 by KernutNovember 25, 2016
Beautiful Amish home and grounds in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

A lovely Amish home: This was one of my favorite homes/farms in all of the Pennsylvania Countryside that I saw. At first I thought this was a public park it’s so picturesque. The grounds are meticulous! I love the creek winding through the manicured lawn, the white picket bridge crossing it, and the gazebo overlooking it all.

The Buckeye State

Covered Bridge near Piqua, Ohio

I thought I should at least catch up on some older sightseeing pictures. Hence, today’s post is brought to you by Ohio, the Buckeye State. I was there earlier this year while on my way to Pennsylvania. Interestingly, Ohio got it’s nickname from the buckeye trees – but it all started with ‘the feverish presidential campaign of 1840’…

Happy Friday 5 – Don’t Bring Sand to the Beach

Kernut the Blond Posted on October 15, 2016 by KernutOctober 15, 2016

Happy Friday, All!

Don’t bring sand to the beach. Especially if the beach is already full of cute, single, southern sand.

Today’s post is bright to you by The South. I love being back in the south! I honestly think I might stay a very long while. Here are five reasons why:

Picking fly turds out of pepper.

Kernut the Blond Posted on March 25, 2016 by KernutMarch 25, 2016
Canyon Lake

This post is a selection of random photos from around Texas. Some I’ve had for a long time, but there hardly seemed enough story about any one of them to form a whole post by themselves. Then I had the brilliant idea to lump all the mini posts into one… Hence, the title: Picking fly turds out of pepper.

Kerrville Museum of Western Art

Kernut the Blond Posted on March 20, 2016 by KernutMarch 25, 2016
Cowboy leading horse through fire.

Kerrville doesn’t have much in the way of cheezy roadside attractions, but it does have a few fun things to see if you find yourself in the area. There is the chalk festival, and The Empty Cross, and the Museum of Western Art.

See a man about a horse: Amish Country, PA

Kernut the Blond Posted on November 28, 2015 by KernutDecember 13, 2015
The horse isn't supposed to look at us.

Why east and north? I recently went to Pennsylvania Amish Country – and I loved it! I was beautiful, the people were friendly, and the towns clean. When I told my father how beautiful it was, he agreed and said it was the prettiest of all the states he’s been to (and he’s been to most all of them). I hear the weather sucks in the winter, but so far it’s still warmer and drier than Texas and Oklahoma. Yes, as I write this, it is warmer and drier in the northeast and has been for the last several weeks.

That dog don’t hunt, and them chickens don’t lay eggs.

Kernut the Blond Posted on September 28, 2015 by KernutSeptember 28, 2015
"I like to escape."

Tales From the RV Park: The chickens that don’t lay eggs… A neighbor with a stick-and-brick (that’s full-time RVer lingo for “house”) went on vacation. He asked me to take care of his chickens and barn kitties. Actually, my neighbor didn’t care so much about the barn kitties (welcome to the south), but he did care about the chickens (again, welcome to the south). The chickens that don’t lay eggs.

Hotter than a June bride in a feather bed

Kernut the Blond Posted on July 27, 2015 by KernutJuly 27, 2015
God is cooking Texas. My cousin says southern Utah is for dessert.

I could’ve just said “It’s hot,” but folks get a little tired of hearing the same phrase over and over. The weather is a big topic in Texas. The weather channel is included in the channel lineup as if it were one of the major networks. It will come as … But, wait! There’s more…

Workin’ harder than a funeral home fan in July

The Largest Ball of Barbed Wire.

Largest Ball of Barbed Wire = Close substitute for Largest Ball of Twine. While I’m dreaming and planning, I’ll share a little bit of the massive King Ranch in Kingsville.
