Lessons From Zen Master Pye – Feeding the Cat
On the third anniversary of the date Pye graced my doorstep with her presence, I think it no small coincidence the Pope graced the U.S. with his presence. I watched the ceremonies with rapt attention. I’m not Catholic, but I do greatly respect Pope Francis and appreciate what he’s doing for the Catholic church and Christianity as a whole.
In honor of these two great events, the third anniversary of Life with Pye and Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S., I present another guest post from Zen Master Pye: Feeding the Cat. For those of you wondering, per Zen Master Pye’s insistence I have converted most of her LOLspeak to English for the ease of learning the lessons.
Lesson Two – Feeding the Cat
Oh Hai! This iz Zen Master Pye, your teacher in teh wayz of the Zen from da kittehs point of view. Today we will learn about feeding da cat Zen Master and the importance of doing so in a timely manner.
If the kitteh wakes you before the sun rises, this means it is time to feed the kitteh. Do not concern yourself with the time of day. Clocks are of no importance in the ways of the Zen Kitteh. Therefore, time should be of no consequence to hoomans.
Do not worry about the past or the future – it is not the way of the Zenz.
When Food is Not Food
No, dis is not another Zen riddle. Hooman, let go of duality… not everything is as it seems.
Sometimes a kibble is a toy to be chased around the floor before being consumed, or it is left for you to step on. Sometimes the water in our dish is for the drinking, sometimes it is for the splashing out of the bowl with a paw to make puddles on the floor so that we may track water all over the house. For what reason, you ask? There is no reason needed, silly hooman. Do not think so much, hooman, you will hurt yourself. Stop asking ‘why’ and be in the moment.
Go feed the kitteh. The kitteh knows all. Feed the kitteh now. Do no tell me it is not “time” to feed the kitteh – have you learned nothing, hooman?
Today’s message: Let go of the past, forget about the future. Be in the moment and know all is well. There is no past or future, there is only the present. Be. Here. Now.
Dere is not past, no footure, only Kitteh.
U r veery wize, for a hooman. You must live with da Zen Masters. – ZMP
