Snakes on a Farm

Kernut the Blond Posted on January 28, 2014 by KernutJanuary 28, 2014
Petting the pot bellied pigs.

…As we wait for the brave ones to contact me, I’m going to show you some snakes.

No, no, no! I’m not referring to the “snakes” in the pictures the half-dressed men have sent of themselves. Although, I probably would post them if I didn’t think I’d be breaking some kind of copyright or privacy law.

So the title of this post is not a reference to men and the online dating arena. But I can see how you might have made that connection.

But, wait! There's more...

The Creek Dun Rose…

Guadalupe River Texas flood 2013

Unlike my usual “panic like a lemming” mode, I didn’t sit inside waiting for the water to rise. Instead, I went out and took a bunch of flood pictures from the water’s edge. For you, my dear Kernutties, for you I braved Mother Nature’s destruction, risking life and limb, to get y’all some photos. You’re welcome.

Only the best dressed fleas for MY pets.

Kernut the Blond Posted on October 13, 2013 by KernutOctober 13, 2013
Fleas under (layers of) glass. That is a magnifying glass over their container, which is all encased in a glass display case.

…What it lacks in size, it makes up for in density, and random oddities. The place is full up to the high ceiling with — stuff. Stuff like shrunken heads and dressed fleas.

Last we left off with the two-headed goat and the shrunken heads. That’s a hard act to follow, no doubt. Perhaps I shouldn’t have lead with the heads. Oh well, too late now.

Ten Things: Only in the country…

Kernut the Blond Posted on October 7, 2013 by KernutOctober 7, 2013
Ok, so it's not a tractor, but you see a lot of cow butt on the road, too.

For those of you who are new here, or those of you with a memory like mine, I have a treat for you. Allow me to present: Ten Things Tuesday on a day that may or may not be a Tuesday.

This living in the country is new to me. I lived in a suburbian ecosystem for many years. That’s not to say I lived an overly sheltered life, but those are stories for another day, many of which have already been published on this blog. Ahem.

But, wait! There's more...

Two heads are better than one shrunken head. Possibly.

Kernut the Blond Posted on September 28, 2013 by KernutNovember 2, 2013
Goat born with two heads and four eyes.

It’s All In Your Shrunken Head

It would seem the Ingram-Bandera area has a thing for heads. Today I bring you a two-headed goat, and a couple shrunken heads, one of which is human. (If you’re squeamish you might want to read something else, like Cat-butt-tongue water or watch the bull castration video I made on a Texas ranch. On second thought, if you’re squeamish you probably stopped reading this blog a long time ago. Ok, never mind.)

A day at the park: Myrtle the Turtle

Kernut the Blond Posted on September 19, 2013 by KernutSeptember 19, 2013
Baby snapping turtle

Meet Myrtle the Turtle. She’s a baby Alligator Snapping Turtle, and her soft shell is only about one inch long. This is an extreme closeup photo – she’s only about the size of a quarter. Ranger Roscoe just loves her tiny little tail. (you can see it in the above photo)

Stonehenge In Texas? There are also some big stone heads.

Kernut the Blond Posted on August 24, 2013 by KernutAugust 25, 2013
Easter Island Head with Stonehenge II in Texas.

Big stone heads.

If you say it fast, you may think it’s a reference to tall pot-smokers. But this is a drug-free blog.

And the stone heads are in Texas, where everything is big. I don’t know why everything is big in Texas, but it may have something to do with the size of the state. The state is HUGE so everything else probably needs to be larger to look proportionate.

So someone decided to duplicate the Easter Island heads.

All I’ve Got Is A Giant Squirrel

Kernut the Blond Posted on August 4, 2013 by KernutAugust 4, 2013
Ms. Pearl, the Giant Squirrel, Cedar Creek, Texas

I could whine to you all about a lot of things, and probably come up with a much better post, but I need something to make me smile today.

Ms. Pearl is it. I hope she makes you smile, too.

Giant Armadillo Invades Flea Market in Texas; Fleas Terrified.

Kernut the Blond Posted on May 11, 2013 by KernutMay 11, 2013
"I don't have leprosy."

The shadow of a Giant Armadillo loomed over us as we entered the flea market, pushing against the stream of fleeing fleas. I’m not sure what the state animal of Texas is, but it should be the armadillo. Ok, so I just did a little googling extensive research and came … But, wait! There’s more…

A smile a day keeps the buttheads away.

Kernut the Blond Posted on March 14, 2013 by KernutMarch 9, 2015
It's a smiley marshmallow. (This one kind of reminds me of a Stay Puft marshmallow.)

(…and there’s a title which Google will never serve up in a search) Or it keeps the blues away. I don’t know. I can’t be expected to remember these things. It’s all I can do to remember what I had for breakfast this morning. (Go on, take a moment… can … But, wait! There’s more…
