Ten Things Tuesday: I Pray For Roadkill — 16 Comments

  1. Thought at first you were praying (hoping for) road kill…. but then realized you were praying FOR the road kill… i might be blond…

    • You may be blond, but several people thought that. It’s all part of my master plan to make people want to click my link. It wasn’t due to my bad grammar or anything. Never my bad grammar.

    • Thank you, Bluz! BTW – I love your movie list! If you haven’t seen it – and I didn’t blow the ending for you – you’ve got to see Chronicles of Riddick! (Don’t read my comment on your site if you haven’t seen the movie! It’s a total spoiler!)

  2. HEY ! I’m so sorry about your grandmother, but I can tell she was a special influence in your life. It’s funny, but our grandparents ARE our history, and losing them makes us realize that they were extra special. Your grandmother looks like she was fun, as well as wise!! You were blessed with sage advice!

As an ‘aside’, I meant to write you about the ranch you visited. My family did that ‘nasty’ procedure on young bulls without the trauma, without an open wound, and much less chance of infection. ………. so I’m wondering why they did it as ‘nasty’ as it looked. I thought that old ‘cut’ method was obsolete 🙁

I, too, pray for/about roadkill !! I always wonder if it was someone’s neglected pet running free, some Bambi’s mother, or just a carefree squirrel who forgot and ran into the street. I hit a squirrel last week, and it ruined my day totally! I miss you!

    Hugs,
Becky from the Slabs last year HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

    • Hello Tex Becks! Thank you for the kind words about m grandmother. She was a great lady.

I’m not sure why they used that method of castration on the bulls, but I agree it seemed a bit harsh. I got the impression that’s just how it’s done. Maybe smaller ranches use the “old school” method?

OMG! It’s great to know I’m not the only one who prays for/about roadkill!

      I miss you, too, Sweetie!

Love and hugs from the land of cows, chickens and oil. xo

    • “The Adventures of Chickenbone and Kernut” were wonderful bedtime stories my very creative father used to tell my sister and I. My sister has a real job and a family and a kid and stuff so to protect her identity, she’s known as Chickenbone on this blog. To read read about the stories, check out http://kernut.com/about/what-is-kernut/

  3. I’m happy that you allowed a new kitty into your life. I’m mourning the loss of mine and thinking it’s time for another dog. That removes the entire catnip issue 😉

    • I’m so sorry to hear of your loss of your kitty! They are precious creatures. I don’t think getting a dog to avoid the catnip issue is a good idea – dogs are far more complicated than kitties! 😉

Actually, Pyewacket adopted me. I don’t think I had a choice in the matter. 🙂

    • Welcome, Teri! Before this post, I thought I was the only one weird enough to pray for roadkill… Several readers have confessed to doing it, too. Who knew there were so many of us?!

  4. Hi Kernut,
So sorry for your grandmothers passing. I am sure you have warm memories of her, as I do mine.
I do enjoy your blog. Usually good for a chuckle and often a belly laugh.
    Garth

    • Thank you, Garth, and welcome to my little spot on the web! Yes, I do have fond memories of her, and am glad she got to see the RV – she was a huge fan of my RV journey (she also loved to travel), often telling her friends about it.

I love to know when someone (anyone, really) not only gets my odd, often sarcastic wit, but also enjoys it. xo
