Ten Things I Like About Being Single And Ten Things I Don’t — 19 Comments

  1. I miss not having to hear the alarm clock going off seventeen times within a half hour. To be fair, he probably feels the same way about the fire alarm.

    • Ahh, I’d forgotten about the blaring alarm clock!! Oooh, my ex-BF needed to wake up at zero-dark-hundred to a blaring alarm, which he would reset over and over. I finally said just put it on soft music and I’ll wake you up. Much better.

  2. You *really* think a significant other provides great blog fodder? Hmmm…. I always felt it was the other way around.

Still prefer being single. For now that is. πŸ™‚

    • Not actually having one to write about, I’m just guessing based on the blogs of the marrieds. I sure have something to write about when I date. Luckily most of them don’t read my blog! LOL

I do prefer singledom a lot of the time, but then I miss sex and it’s all over. πŸ˜‰

  3. Some of those things are the things I miss most about being single. Oddly, none of the things on your ten things you hate are things I would put on my list of things I love about being in a relationship.

    • Oooh, now I want to know your ten reasons you love being in a relationship!! Or would it just depress me because I’d have 20 things I missed about being in a relationship?

  4. I was single for a very long time and have recently found a mate that doesn’t annoy me. Yeah! So I totally get the remote thing and eating over the sink thing. On the flip side I read more and I’ve lost 40 lbs. because she cooks for me, lol.

    • Damn, now I’m adding “someone who cooks for me to the list”. I totally understand how hard it is to find one that doesn’t annoy! The older I get the more I learn about myself and the less I’m willing to settle for. *sigh* It’s a catch 22.

  5. Well, Kernut, if I were thirty+ years younger and single I’d be volunteering to help with #5 of the “reasons I don’t” list, just sayin’. Seriously, though, it’s all a tradeoff, at least when one is fairly young.

It is when we age that those long term relationships become more important. When I had my stroke it was my Linda Lou that first saved my life. A cat could not have noticed the symptoms, nor made sure I got to the hospital. Nor could my dogs have nursed me through.

Now, five years later, when Linda Lou broke her leg and could not even crawl, could a furkid have called the ambulance? Much less, helped care for her all this time? Perhaps, if we lived in an apartment in the city, we could have made it through these little problems. Out here in the country? Nah. And neither of us like living in town.

Raising the kids was kind of a PITA at times. Grandkids, though are a hoot.

    • LOL I think you’re my biggest male fan. Well, at least you’re the most vocal. πŸ˜‰

I live in a major metropolitan area, and when I had a back injury and my eye surgery, it sucked. You’re right – the four-legged child was only helpful at comforting, but not much else. That’s what scares me.

So does the idea of raising kids. πŸ˜‰

  6. Well we all have our own opinions when it comes to our relationship status. Some are contented in being single, while some are dying just to be in a relationship. Whatever the reason is, all we wanted in the end is to be happy. I like this post. It is very transparent…

    • Thanks Junior! I go back and forth, as may be evident in the post. Both states have their pluses and minuses. You are quite accurate – all we want is to be happy. Sometimes companionship brings this, and sometimes it doesn’t.

  7. Haha! This cracked me up! For #6 of your β€˜Ten Things I Don’t Like About Being Single’, perhaps you can snuggle with your cat. LOL. And those lots of good lingerie would totally go to waste unless you sell them on Ebay. LOL. And about those stalkers, you also need to bury them yourself. What a hassle.

    • LOL Ah, yes, I do snuggle with my cat – she is the love of my life. And the stalkers? I’m tired of burying them. So much trouble.
